SA: SA petrol prices rise four cents for festive season

ADELAIDE, Dec 24 AAP - Petrol prices have risen four cents in South Australia, prompting
the state's peak motoring body to accuse retailers of a festive season rip-off.

Unleaded fuel prices in metropolitan Adelaide today were an average of 91.4 cents a
litre, the Royal Automobile Association (RAA) said.

But the price should be the same as last week, at about 87 cents a litre, RAA spokesman
Hamilton Calder said.

"The only reason we can see for this rise in average prices this Christmas is through
the withdrawal of regular oil company rebates and a resulting end to the discounting cycle,
or through unscrupulous operators wanting to take advantage of holidaymakers," Mr Calder
said in a statement.

"Neither of these are valid reasons for the price of petrol to rise and take advantage
of motorists during the festive season."
